U.S School of Therapeutic Storytelling, established by Nancy Mellon in 1996.
Offers experiential training in storymaking and storytelling as a creative and transformative process. Nancy has a varied background as a teacher of literature, painting, color therapy and drawing. As a writer, therapist and teacher, she works to support family and community expression through the arts.

East Tennessee State University (ETSU) Masters Program in Storytelling is one of a very few select fully accredited graduate programs in Professional and Applied Storytelling in the United States. ETSU offers either an M.A. (30 hour with thesis) or M.Ed. (36 hours, non-thesis option) degree in Reading/Story Arts. Located in Johnson City, Tennessee, on the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains, ETSU is a regional university in the heart of traditional storytelling country. Neighboring Jonesborough is home to the National Storytelling Festival, the premier showcase for contemporary storytelling in the USA.
Students in the ETSU Storytelling Program may concentrate on performance skills for the sake of their present or intended professional storytelling career, or they may focus on aspects of applied storytelling, to enhance their roles as teachers, ministers, counselors, community workers, corporate trainers, healers, or parents.
The East Tennessee State University Masters Program in Storytelling offers numerous opportunities for Graduate Assistantships for fulltime in-residence graduate students. These assistantship positions provide full tuition support and stipends of $3000 per semester, in return for 20 hours per week of work on research and service assignments related to the student's interests and course of study.
